SALINE

PRICE: €€

One of the best kept secrets of the Algarve is in Belamandil, in the municipality of Olhão. It is a lake of about 2000 m² and a concentration of salt equivalent to that of the Dead Sea. In addition to the relaxing feeling of floating on water, the experience has health benefits.
The great novelty of this summer are the nocturnal baths, every Saturday, under the stars, in the moonlight, and with background music. The new experience joins the already customary, but still quite secret, baths of the "Dead Sea", which take place next to the salt flats of the Ria Formosa, in Cova da Onça, in the site of Belamandil, in the municipality of Olhão .

In order to get to know this art and its entire process better, guided tours are offered throughout the year, by appointment. The tours (€10) last about an hour, where the process of production and extraction of traditional sea salt and the famous fleur de sel is explained. During the tour, you will also have the opportunity to observe seabirds in the saline habitat, located in the Ria Formosa Natural Park. You can add to the visit the baths of the “Dead Sea” (15 €), which last a maximum of three hours.

Sagres

SAGRES.jpg

HISTORICAL SITE

PRICE: €€

Sagres is the most southwestern city in Portugal and has two points of interest not to be missed: the Cabo de São Vicente and the Fortress of Sagres.

Ideal for nature lovers, Cap Saint-Vincent was classified as a nature reserve in 1988, which is not surprising given the number of species that have chosen this site as their habitat: sea otters, herons, eagles by Bonelli, etc.

This part of the coast also has its history and in the Middle Ages this tip of Europe was known as "the end of the world".

The fortress of Sagres is located on the cliffs of the tip of Sagres and was built in the middle of the 15th century to protect this part of Portugal.

Inside the fortress you will find the small Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça, a compass rose and you will be treated to some of the best views of the Atlantic Ocean.
